“Old Iron and Good Times” steam and power show, previously called Cedar Valley Memories Steam and Power Show, enters its 30th year, complete with all the good things that came with the recurring show, along with new events for kids and adults.
Leading the list are the Civil War Reenactors (see related story) who will be on site both days, starting with the 7 a.m. reveille. The American Legion returns to offer breakfast both days beginning at 7 a.m. Living Heritage workshops will begin at 10 a.m. on both days, demonstrating the pioneer arts such as blacksmithing, saw-milling and rope-making. As in years’ past, steam engine plowing will be a featured event. A flea market, demonstration of domestic crafts and kids’ activities will also be on hand.
This year’s featured machine is 1901 Frazee automobile, made in Osage, that was the first gas-powered automobile manufactured in Iowa.
